You
were made for a close relationship with God. But you may not yet know God in a
personal way through His Son.
The Bible says that we have instead chosen to go our
own way: “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his
own way” (Isa. 53:6).
Yet the Lord is eager to forgive our sin, restore our
fellowship with God, and give us the gift of eternal life. But there are some
biblical requirements.
First, we must admit that we are sinners and cannot
save ourselves. The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God” (Rom. 3:23).
Second, we need to recognize the seriousness of our
sin. God sets a standard of perfection in which no one can please Him based on
self-effort. “The wages of sin death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23). The good news is that Christ suffered the
consequences, making it possible for us to have eternal fellowship with Him. “God
demonstrates His own toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ
died for us” (Rom. 5:8)
Third, we need to receive Jesus as Savior. “As many
as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those
who believe in His name” (John 1:12)
Are you ready to make that decision? If you are, go
to Jesus in prayer now and share with Him you desire to receive forgiveness for
sin and to start your journey of a relationship with Him.
